Conquering Physical and Mental Obstacles at Ninja Summer Camp

There’s no getting around the fact that you will face challenges in life. They could be physical, emotional, mental, financial, or something else.

Whatever you face, the better prepared you are, the more easily you’ll be able to overcome it and come out on the other side with more resilience.

Physical Challenges

Let’s start with some of the physical challenges we put in front of you while you’re at ninja summer camp. These will help you push yourself beyond what you’re comfortable doing so you can feel a sense of accomplishment when you complete them.

Obstacle Course

The main attraction where you’ll find a lot of satisfaction while overcoming is our ninja warrior obstacle course.

At the beginning of the week, it will be nearly impossible for you to complete. But, by the end when you gain skills through the other physical activities we provide, you’ll be able to finish it and call yourself a ninja warrior.

Parkour

Also known as “free running,” parkour is a fairly recent phenomenon that has created urban ninjas around the world. At its core, parkour is finding creative ways to navigate a concrete jungle.

While at ninja summer camp, campers will learn the different jumps and moves used by parkour experts to leap over fences and other obstacles. This activity is great because it’s both physical and mental.

The mental aspect comes from needing to use creativity and critical thinking to overcome each obstacle as it comes. You have to think about the object and what is the best way for you to get over it, providing an excellent mental and physical exercise.

Acro-Yoga

Acro-yoga combines acrobatics with yoga for a high-flying experience that few have had the opportunity to have. During these sessions, you’ll learn a rare skill that you can impress your friends with when you get back home.

This type of yoga also develops muscles that you wouldn’t normally use, making it even more physically challenging than regular yoga. The benefit of that is you’ll gain abilities that will help you complete our ninja warrior obstacle course.

Slacklining

A slackline is used like a tightrope but it’s different in two distinct ways. First of all, it’s slack rather than tight. Secondly, it’s wider and flatter than a rope. This makes it more challenging so you can improve your balance quickly.

If you can master walking across the slackline, our experienced Pali staff will provide a greater challenge for you by teaching you some tricks you can do on the line. These are designed to take your skills to the next level so you’ll have unmatched balance.

Gymnastics

To make it through our obstacle course, one of the main things you’ll need to learn is gymnastics. This uses a combination of physical strength, balance, and coordination so you can perform a certain task.

Rock Wall

The final physical obstacle you’ll face while at ninja camp is the rock wall. This is another one that also has a strong mental aspect so you can flex your mind and body at the same time.

Physically, you’ll need pure strength along with endurance to reach the top of the wall. Mentally, you’ll need to use critical thinking to determine the best next step to take and creativity to figure out how to take that step.

Mental Obstacles

These three mental obstacles we’re going to focus on are not the only ones you’ll learn while at ninja warrior summer camp. However, they are some of the most important that you’ll take back to your daily life.

We want you to develop these skills even more than the physical ones because no matter what you do in life, these will help you overcome the difficulties you’ll encounter.

Self-awareness

It sounds strange, but when you think about it, few people really know themselves as well as they should. However, being more aware of your thoughts and actions will help you make better decisions and allow you to overcome anything.

An example of this is if you struggle with anxiety. When you become more self-aware, you can start to recognize your triggers and see how your choices are affecting your level of anxiety. Then, you can take steps to avoid triggers and make more conscious decisions.

Critical Thinking

We’ve already mentioned this skill and how it can be developed at ninja camp so let’s just quickly define it.

Critical thinking is the ability to make an unbiased decision based on the facts you have available to you, rather than doing something based purely on how you feel in the moment.

Independence

As important as it is to know how to work together as a team, you also need to be able to function independently. Ninja summer camp is designed to help you learn to be more independent so you can gain the benefits.
